Once the building permit has been approved by the town or municipality NEPB will schedule your excavation. That morning an NEPB rep will layout and spraypaint the pool shape and location in your yard. Once approved by you, the excavation crew will begin to form the outline of the pool in wood and begin excavation. At the end of the day you will have an excavated pool and form ready for the next phase!
In the next phase the steel crew will arrive and begin to create the rebar cage or the "bones" as we sometimes refer to them of your new gunite pool. At the end of this phase your structure of the pool is really beginning to take shape. Don't worry that the rebar cage is sitting on the ground. Prior to the gunite phase it will be "bricked up" using cement brick to ensure centering the rebar within the gunite
Electrical bonding of the steel rebar cage is the next phase. Though short and sweet this phase is critical to the safety of the project. A licensed electrician must pull a permit and bond the cage with a #8 unclad wire. It must be inspected after and signed off on before the project can move forward.
Once the pool has passed the bonding inspection we are now ready for gunite. The crew(s) will arrive early to prepare for the gunite application. You will see that your future fresh water return lines will be put in place along with your main drains, skimmers, and light niches. Any other penetrations through the gunite shell will be done at this phase as well. The crew will also install pegboard around the outside of the cage in any places above finished ground level so that the gunite may be sh
The shell must now be water cured via sprinkler for 7-14 days. The homeowner must wet the entire interior surface of the shell for a minimum of 7 calendar days. Best practices utilize a sprinkler for at least 2 hours each day. If it rains naturally then sprinkling can be skipped for that day. Not much else happens during this phase as the shell must be cured before moving onto the next phase. Do not worry about water accumulating in the shell. NEPB will pump it down and clean it out before the
After the shell has cured NEPB will have its tile crew come and install the waterline tile that you have chosen. This process should be fairly quick and sets the pool up for the coping installation or cantilever preparation for your patio/pool deck installation. You are in the final stretch!
This phase may take place concurrent with the tile phase or just prior or post the tile phase. During this phase NEPB will extend your plumbing from the "stubs" penetrating the gunite and trench the plumbing over to your desired equipment location. Once there the plumbing will be placed under pressure at a pressure stand and the equipment will be set on precast concrete pads. Final connection of the plumbing to the equipment will be done after installation of your patio/pool deck to ensure no pi
Now that your coping/patio/pool deck has been installed we are finally at the last phase. Plaster. On this day or just prior NEPB will make you final equipment connections. The day before a "prep" crew will also scrape, wash and clean out your gunite shell and install your finish return lines and light niche rings and lights in preparation for your plaster application. Plaster is your watertight seal and interior pool finish. Once the plaster crew applies your plaster of choice water from a pre
Your new pool is now looking like it is ready to go! You may swim in the pool after the first 24 hours of water circulating. However this is just the beginning of your plaster curing phase. The plaster should be brushed at least 2 times daily during this curing period which can last up to 30 days. The more you brush the smoother your finish will be, as brushing removes calcium and scale that naturally occurs during the curing of the plaster. An NEPB service representative will also meet with you
Whether your pool needs a few tiles replaced or an entire makeover NEPB has the experience and staff to get your pool back into top form in no time and on budget. Your pool does not always need to be totally remodeled for it to look and perform 100% NEPB will use their expertise and staff years of knowledge to do the necessary repairs and not just replace everything. However, if what your pool needs is a total make-over NEPB can give her the full spa treatment! New tile, new plaster, quartz fini
